Getting Ready To Run Facebook Ads

The success of a Facebook ad comes down to the funnel you have. People are on Facebook usually to connect with friends and family, whereas those on Instagram are shopping more. These are things to keep in mind when placing your ads. Instagram people are a bit more click happy. When you want to generate leads that convert into clients, you have to not only make them leads, but also get them in your funnel and nurture them.

Start 3-6 months before launching your course, mastermind, or product. Tammy’s advice is that everybody should be running ads all the time because they’ll help you generate the know, like and trust factor. Your conversions will in turn be higher, which means you can actually raise your prices.

When starting with your first set of ads, test your lead magnet with a variety of audiences. This means selecting various interests that people have based on your ideal customer avatar. Create 10-20 audiences in Facebook and start testing them out. Your lead magnet should be something that relates to your paid offer and is the beginning of the nurturing process for your leads.

Tammy suggests trying out a video ad to warm your audience and connecting to them on a deeper level. It reminds them who is behind the lead magnet that they just clicked on.

How To Create Ads That Convert & Your Budget

What type of image converts best? Tammy says that you should develop at least 7 different images for your ads with a mix of personal images, stock, various text overlay and always a call to action. Remember that your warm audience will be people from email list and those people who have engaged on your Instagram before.

I asked Tammy what kind of budget you should have in place when you start to run ads. She said that you should budget $500 for a 30 day campaign and base it on interests. Create 10 ads in total consisting of 5 ads with 2 versions of ad copy. You can see which audiences convert the best for you and this allows you to go into the next month with good data and knowledge of what’s working and not.

Out of 9 audiences, only turn on 3 a day and run for 3 days or when they reach 500-1000 people. If they’ve converted at a good price of $3-5/lead, then keep them on. If an interest converts above $5/lead,  then turn off and test out another audience out of the 9. Doing the upfront work will make it easy to manage the data throughout the month.

Tips For Running Facebook Ads

If you’re like me and have never run ads before, then you should first get Facebook pixels installed on your website. The pixels will track where everyone is going on your website and is on the back end of Facebook Ads Manager. Tammy recommends you send leads to a landing page, such as Lead Pages, or if your website template has a landing page option. You can then redirect them to a thank you page and install another pixel there to see where they end up going.

Get your Facebook Business Manager set up, attach your credit card, link it to your Instagram profile and ensure your business page is attached. Start this work a month ahead of time in order to make sure things are set up, so that you can run ads when you are ready.
