My Simplified Life with Michelle Glogovac

Nov 3, 2020

Right now we are all experiencing what some call “the new normal,” but what about our everyday “normal”? Why is it considered normal to literally live for our weekends? To stay in jobs that we can’t stand to do? Why is it not “normal” for a black woman to be the potential Vice President of the United States? I don’t want to be normal and I don’t want this kind of normal for my kids or for you. I get a tad political in this episode, but the truth of the matter is that I believe we should all have the same rights regardless of our skin color, gender or sexuality. I’m defining what I want my “normal” to be and I want you to do the same. Stop living for the weekend and start living everyday in pure happiness.

What’s your “normal”?

  • Defining A “Normal” Life
  • Redefining “Normal” For Myself & My Kids

Parenting During A Pandemic - You’re Doing A Great Job

It feels like we’ve been living in quarantine for a million years and despite the privilege I know I have in owning my own business and making my own hours, it’s still extremely hard with distance learning involved. Parents, you’re doing great. You are not only raising kids, but doing so during a worldwide pandemic! You’ve not only create these tiny humans, but you’re teaching them to go to the bathroom, how to talk and walk and even read! Parenting is literally a miraculous and huge undertaking, so take a moment to recognize the amazingness of all you are doing and give yourself a high-five!

Defining A “Normal” Life

My friend, Toby and I were talking about a Chris Janson song called “Normal People” and how a normal person has a mortgage, kids, goes to work and church and literally lives for the weekend. Normal means clocking in and out and counting the hours and days that you don’t have to do that. Why do we allow this to be normal? Today is also election day and it’s a big one. We have a black woman on the ballot for Vice President and that’s amazing….but why shouldn’t it be? Kamala Harris is an educated, experienced, intelligent woman. Our norm should be that anyone with those qualifications should be running for office and that’s what we should be celebrating. The norm shouldn’t have anything to do with your skin color, gender, or sexuality.

Redefining “Normal” For Myself & My Kids

I believe we all deserve to be happy in what we do every day. I also understand that starting a new company or quitting your job isn’t realistic, so I challenge you to figure out what you love doing and carve out time to do that. Picture what the perfect “normal” day would look like for yourself. Work towards making that happen and deciding what normal is for you and your future. Imagine the impact on the world we could create by ensuring we are happy in how we lead our daily lives and the impact on our children and how they define normal.

How will you redefine normal?
